Tourists are permited to enter the World Heritage Site in two slots on a daily basis They are provided with a window and handed over their respective e-tickets by adhering to standard operational procedure of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
During the morning slot, only 1,200 visitors are allowed whereas 1,300 tourists can enter in the afeternoon slot. An average of 5,000 tourists visit the monument daily prior to the lockdown in March. The state government has advised to open all non-living monuments, museums, and archaeological sites amid COVID-19 safety precautions. The Puri administration has imposed COVID restrictions to close the Sun Temple at Konark.
